This week, I reflected on my second interview with Dr. Sapkota, a professor at the University of Texas at Dallas. It was fascinating to understand his research of noncanonical modes of protein translations connected to various diseases. Furthermore, I drafted a proposal for my original work proposal which will be a guide for pathogenic responses on pediatric immunology and solutions for diagnostics. A question I am still researching is the optimal way to catalog my knowledge into my original work. I also completed my proposal to learn from Dr. Raj’s Microbiome Research Laboratory at UT Southwestern. I am excited to perform DNA and RNA sequencing and have the guidance of my mentor and graduate students.
Next week, I plan to work on my Research Speech Presentation. I cannot wait to share my knowledge from analyzing research in my field, the amazing professionals I’ve learned from, and my future mentorship experience. Furthermore, with my final interview next week, I want to combine the interview skills I've gained to have an informative meeting. I will continue honing my skill of reflecting on my work on my final interview assessment.
One skill I would like to work on for this quarter is meaningful and achievable goal-setting. That way, my time in ISM is utilized wisely.
