This week was immensely gratifying. I focused on contacting different professionals working at universities, employed at medical centers to run clinical trials, working in labs, and working with patients as a genetic counselor. I was successful in having three in-person interviews and three virtual interviews. I hope to keep working on my interview questions by altering them for each interview and learning more about the career they lead. It is truly amazing to see the diversity of research they are conducting in the field of genetics.

Next week, I am scheduled to interview two professionals. I am so excited as I have always wanted to learn more about research at medical facilities and doctors who lead clinical trials. I am grateful that these professionals have given me time because I aspired to be a physician-scientist. Furthermore, I will work on my next assessment and focus on cancer research, allowing me to dive deeper into gene-editing processes to plan my original work.

One question I am currently researching is the difference between careers in genetics by obtaining a Ph.D. or an MD/Ph.D. Moreover, I am reading research papers published by various professionals I am going to interview.

I look forward to gaining more professional experiences.
