This week, I finished polishing my display board. As I continue to alter my board, I intend to incorporate more captions to my pictures on my board as my peers mentioned while giving feedback. It will help more individuals access my research and inform them about the vast overreach of the microbiome, even without understanding the whole cellular pathway detailed in the photographs. I also had great success with planning my Final Product with my mentor and summarizing our discussion in my assessment.
Next week, I'm looking forward to diving into various diseases my mentor has researched and finding relevant research literature, as well as presenting my fall semester work at the Gallery Walk. I am excited to learn from my peers' presentations and understand their field, as well as search for intersections relevant to my work. I plan to continue working on my presentational speaking by working on my Research Presentation Speech and planning for Research Showcase. A question I intend to pursue this semester is effective methods to reach the public with scientific information amidst misinformation and a distrust of science. My mentor's experience with research, treating patients, lifestyle interventions, and public outreach will be immensely helpful as I complete my Final Product and discover new areas of interest.
