The last few weeks have been an incredible experience as I have worked on my Original Work - finding sources, reading research papers, and conversing with professionals researching the microbiome. I also summarized my experience in ISM through my Research Speech Presentation to my peers. The perspective of analyzing genes to find a narrative has guided me throughout the first semester of my study. It is interesting how bacteria tie into the survival of genes code, and I can't find to find more connections. As I presented my research through primary and secondary sources, I became aware of the complex mechanisms bacteria and genes share in the body's immune system. I plan to continue researching the different ways bacteria contribute to the etiology of diseases, including chronic pain.
This week I hope to continue working on my Original Work and connect with my mentor to gain a deeper understanding of the human microbiome and guide my research. Moreover, I plan to combine my research analysis of articles into my Original Work as I get ready to present it in January. I also want to research quorum sensing to study how bacteria communicate with each other. I cannot wait to share my findings with my peers.
